ang garapata...

when it comes to politics, i usually have something to say... just not loud enough.

i have long lost my faith in our government, but not necessarily in our people. generally, i still believe that us pinoys, individually, are very conscientious people. but we are also so easily swayed. i dunno who and/or what to blame for it. was it because of 300 or so years of being manipulated? was it because, relatively, we are a very young "independent" country and still needs guidance? we are constantly second-guessing ourselves and the only way to hide our insecurities is through overbearing pretend-confidence.

why the speech, you ask? it's just that it is agitating to see political catfights on tv. take for instance, JDV and Nograles, the news that had been ongoing for weeks now. JDV, being the only politician to hold the Speaker of the House position five times, refused to vacate the seat. accusing PGMA of orchestrating a vote to oust him since his son, Joey De Venecia, implicated PGMA's husband in a corruption scandal. a lot has happened in that particular session, word wars, accusations, controversies raised but in the end, with pride hurt and position forfeited, JDV, in his overbearing pretend confidence, nominated Davao City Rep. Prospero Nograles as the new Speaker. not that i'm very familiar with the ins and outs of politics, but sometimes, change can be good too.

with reliable Google, i have done a background check on the new Speaker. the good, the bad and the ugly. some Davaoenos are strongly against Rep. Nograles. i'm not one who easily believes in rumors, but then again, where there's smoke, there's fire. and i'm torn between the old and the new. between the accustomed and reformation.

unfortunately, the masses would again become the sacrificial lamb in the transition.

and get this, just a few days after JDV was replaced, talks of jumping to the opposition are circulating. Erap already confirmed that the former Speaker invited him for dinner. grrr! naaagit talaga ako!

and with that, i'll end this post with Pol Medina's all-too-real editorial.

(Ang garapata nga naman. Kapag wala nang masipsip sa isang aso ay lilipat sa ibang aso.)

bow.
